What is the difference between access code authentication and SMS code authentication?

The sender of an envelope can request signer authentication: this operation - carried out prior to signing the document - provides the signer with access to view the document itself.

The sender can request signer authentication in two ways:

  • Access Code: the sender registers a PIN within the procedure and communicates this to the signer (through their own channels). Subsequently, the signer will only be able to view the envelope by entering the sender-communicated PIN.
  • SMS code: the sender registers the signer's mobile number (if it is not already in the address book) within the procedure. Subsequently, the signer will only be able to view the envelope by entering the OTP sent via SMS.
